DRTV's Slight Rise Helps Boost Overall Q1 Ad Revenue 4.4 Percent 
Total advertising expenditures in the first quarter of 2011 reached $32.5 billion, an increase of 4.4 percent from the same time period a year ago, according to data released by Kantar Media. As part of that jump, U.S. direct response TV advertising spending clocked in at just short of $1.6 billion, a 2-percent increase from first-quarter 2010.
