Kathi Moore, a leading figure in U.S. Hispanic direct response, joins Beanstalk Media as executive vice president. Under Moore, Beanstalk will expand its U.S. Hispanic offerings in both paid and per acquisition media, while continuing to grow as a full-service, cost-per-acquisition agency, specializing in campaign management, production, investment and CPA TV, Web and radio.

Thane Direct launches the fourth infomercial campaign for Slim ’N Lift Supreme Comfort. Thane has placed all four campaigns in more than 100 countries and has generated more than 10 million units in sales, making Slim ’N Lift the garment category’s No. 1 television brand.

As of May, the WAPA National Sales offices located in Miami and New York will oversee all U.S. national short- and long-form direct response and paid advertising for sales for WAPA America, formerly handled by WorldLink. WAPA America originates from Puerto Rico and contains the programming of WAPA-TV, Puerto Rico’s leading independent broadcast network.

Gen2Media, a fully integrated digital media, technology and marketing company, teams up with Salem Communications to develop and launch an ad-supported online television network targeting the faith-based audience. 

DIRECTV Group Inc. and Liberty Media Corp. have entered into an agreement to combine DIRECTV Group with Liberty Entertainment Inc., a company to be split-off from Liberty Media. Chase Carey will continue to be president and CEO of DIRECTV and the board of directors for DIRECTV and Liberty will serve as executive officers.

Scripps Networks, owner of the FoodNetwork.com and Recipezaar.com, launches a food-focused media site called Food2.com. Food2 – which includes a Facebook page, Flickr photos and Twitter feeds – aims to expand the company’s online reach with an interactive design, including recipes, games, a blog and videos.

Nationwide Insurance names McKinney as its new advertising agency of record. The Durham-based agency will replace TM, Nationwide’s agency of record since 1998.

Scienceuticals, a leading beauty product manufacturer, appoints Jennifer M. Heisler to director of marketing. Heisler will oversee all internal and external communications, including marketing, public relations and branding, as well as manage the development of new private label products.

Horizon Media is assigned marketing services including national media planning, buying, digital services and marketing counsel for Mike’s Hard Lemonade Co. starting in May.

Joe Smillie, senior vice president at Quality Assurance International (QAI), will give a presentation on the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) consensus standards development at the 2009 Natural Beauty Summit America, May 7, in New York. The conference will highlight major developments in the cosmetics industry impacting natural and organic products and sustainability.

GSI Commerce Inc. extends its multi-year E-commerce agreement with Bath & Body Works, a division of Limited Brands. Under the agreement, which runs until 2015, GSI will continue to provide the online store with E-commerce technology and fulfillment services.
