Hawthorne Direct names Tammy Shull as human resources manager. Shull was most recently with MetroGroup Marketing Services as human resources manager for 12 years.

Livemercial appoints Adam Riemer as senior director of marketing, media and affiliate. Riemer’s responsibilities include executing overall marketing strategy, with a primary focus on optimizing existing channels, including affiliate, shopping comparison, pay-per-click, media buying/planning, E-mail, mobile and database.

Cesari Direct launches its new integrated Web site,, to reflect the company’s services including: short-form DRTV media buying; direct response radio buying; enhanced interactive elements; and media funding. In-depth case studies of Cesari Direct’s all-star roster of clients have also been enhanced and feature detailed backgrounds of campaigns for Eagle One (Valvoline), Sonicare Toothbrush, Brainetics and Rug Doctor.

The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) honored Jon Roska, founder, CEO and chief creative officer of Roska Direct Advertising with the Edward N. Mayer Jr. Education Leadership Award at the Annual Awards Dinner held in Las Vegas on Saturday, in conjunction with the DMA annual conference and exhibition. Another award was given to Scholastic for corporate leadership and the evening raised $400,000 for direct/interactive marketing education.

Leyla Hodge joins Capital Media as director of operations. Hodge has 14 years of experience in direct response advertising and has managed campaigns in various categories including insurance, home improvement, pharmaceutical and fitness.

Direct marketing company Harte-Hanks is named the agency of record for Hyundai Motor America. The agency, which has worked for several years with the car company, will help cross-sell products, grow customer value and capitalize on more opportunities to retain customers when they are back in the market to buy.

DRTV agency ShadowBox Direct announces the completion of a short-form direct response television campaign for inLighten Window Screens from the W.L. Gore and Associates company. This lead-generating campaign is now airing its initial media.

InfoPrint Solutions Company announces a TransPromo pilot for Best Western International hotel chain, as part of the Chief Marketing Officer Council’s Precision Promotion campaign. The initiative will bring promotional offers to Best Western Rewards members via their rewards statements.

Run Spot Run Media Inc., a media buying and planning company, unveils its newly redesigned Web site,, to better assist its clients. Along with new media, case studies, links and company news, President Katie Walther and Vice President Robb Walther will now be blogging about issues facing the company and the media world.

Full-service advertising agency Smith Brothers Agency LP hires: Joel Dinkel, interactive designer; Jason Head, HTML developer; Rebecca Prosser, interactive account manager; Zachary Weston, informational technology manager; and Kristina Korade, office administrator.

SST LLC, an investor group – led by marketing veterans Robert K. Sher, Gary Schmidt and Richard Trenkmann – is selling Alvion LLC, an E-commerce, list and sales automation system for information marketing companies, to Acxiom Inc., a global interactive marketing services company. SST is also selling Alvion Ukraine, a data warehouse ETL developer, to SoftServe Inc., a software development company.

XMPie’s customer Response Network is using variable data printing and cross-media communications to transform from a print-for-pay company to a value-added marketing communications firm by using XMPie solutions to solve clients’ business communications challenges. A recent campaign involved a cross-media campaign for a travel company to better reach prospective cruise customers and sell more trips.

The Rockport Company LLC, a lifestyle footwear company, has redesigned through its partnership with GSI Commerce Inc. GSI Interactive, the marketing services division of GSI (a partner of Rockport since 2003), was selected to lead the redesign because of its expertise in digital marketing, design and photography.

Money Mailer Direct Marketing, a veteran in the direct marketing industry, and Coupons Inc., a provider of printable coupon marketing and technology solutions, form a strategic partnership to increase the amount of savings opportunities online to customers in communities across the United States. The combination of Coupons Inc.’s distribution network, powering Web sites and expanding mobile platform, and Money Mailer’s reach, which includes 22 million households, creates a partnership that will increase Money Mailer’s circulation by 20 percent using Coupons Inc.’s DigitalFSI network.

Demand Media, a social media company, appoints 19-year digital media veteran George Stewart to executive vice president of advertising sales. Most recently, Steward was senior vice president of advertising sales at Next New Networks, a producer and syndicator of original Internet television networks.

Scott Davis is named executive vice president of Harmelin Media. Davis, who has worked for Harmelin for 16 years, was most recently vice president where he managed an account team responsible for work on Ford, Yellow Book USA, Sheetz and other campaigns.
