ITV Ventures has laid off the majority of its remaining employees and stopped selling infomercial merchandise. Its owner, Donald Barrett – who also owns the recently troubled ITV Direct Inc. and Direct Marketing Concepts – will launch Elite Virtual Systems Group (EVP) on Oct. 10 to sell the products. 

Concepts TV celebrates 25 years of business in both short- and long-form infomercial production. In honor of the anniversary, the company’s president, Collette Liantonio, took her staff to the Red Rock Mountain Spa in St. George, Utah, for four days.

GSI Commerce will acquire Innotrac Corporation – a provider of E-commerce, fulfillment and custom care services that owns eight fulfillment facilities. Following the close of the deal, GSI will operate 4.7 million square feet of fulfillment centers and 2,165 call center seats.

Cesari Direct appoints Ken Hunt to the newly created role of president. Hunt will focus on expanding Cesari’s interactive division, enhance client services and oversee operations of the multi-faceted marketing company.

Andrew Gordon, president of Direct Impact Group, is elected chair of the Electronic Retailing Association’s Television Council. Gordon has served as a council member for more than six years and brings 27 years of DRTV and direct marketing experience to the group.

The Network Companies LLC, in conjunction with FreeCause Inc., launches the new Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) Fundraising Toolbar on Facebook. These applications will serve as fundraising and engagement tools for EDF, which was ranked first among environmental groups — and second overall — in the 2007 Financial Times global study of 850 business-nonprofit partnerships.

Greater Than One Inc. (GTO), a full-service independent digital marketing agency, hires Nancy Engen as director of Greater Good, GTO’s pro bono program that provides free Web sites to centers serving the underprivileged youth of local communities.

Siegel+Gale, a strategic branding firm, appoints Matthias Mencke as creative director of its Los Angeles office. A former design director for Interbrand and an independent communications designer, Mencke has directed major design initiatives for clients such as eBay Marketplace, Outdoor Life Network, British Telecom and Deloitte Consulting.

American Honda Motor Co. Inc., Honda Canada Inc. and the National Hockey League (NHL) have entered into a three-year contract naming Honda as the official vehicle of the NHL. The agreement includes Honda’s sponsorship of NHL television and Internet coverage along with active participation in NHL events in both the United States and Canada.

Doug Howe will return to QVC as executive vice president of design, development and global sourcing, effective Oct. 20. Later in 2009, Howe will assume the role of executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

Jeannine Falcone is named managing director of Harte-Hanks Direct Marketing Agency Services, a multi-channel relationship marketing agency specializing in direct and digital communications. Falcone has been with the company for 15 years, most recently as senior vice president of client services within the agency services group.

Vans, the lifestyle and skateboarding apparel brand, is now offering mobile options for consumers through a partnership with FunMobility, a platform that offers ringtones, wallpapers, Access 360 and SMS marketing. Customers can sign up online to receive texts or wallpapers to their mobile phone.

Creative Search Media releases four emerging media marketing services: CapTive Digital media Advertising; PromoTive Viral and Social Media Marketing; AddicTive E-mail and eCRM; and MoTive Mobile Marketing. Each service – targeted at midsize companies such as retailers, hotels and real estate – allows advertisers to track consumer behavior in their respective medium.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate launches a mobile site specifically tailored for the iPhone. When iPhone customers go to Coldwell Banker’s Web site through the mobile phone, they can search property listings and estimate home values without downloading software.

Edo Interactive relaunches its overhauled Web site, edointeractive.com. The latest development provides advertisers an opportunity to explore the newest, most innovative marketing tools such as the edo Marketing Platform, and see the impact of utilizing such tools in their campaigns.

V12 Group, a direct marketing services firm, introduces DM360, a service that integrates E-mail and direct mail in one Web-based program. Users simply log into the Web-based portal; select the type of direct mail or E-mail campaign they want to run; upload any photos, images or maps to their locations; customize the copy and design; review a PDF proof; select the target audience; and pay with a credit card.
