Effective Sept. 1, MTV Networks’ Music High Definition (MHD) channel will be rebranded and named Palladia. The rebrand will introduce exclusive concerts and movies that will be shown in high-definition for the first time, and Palladia will continue to show awards shows that are on MTV, VH1 and CMT.

Livemercial has hired Michael “Mic” Fabus as executive vice president/creative director. Fabus’s background includes management roles in music, film, rich media, advertising, marketing and Web development, and he most recently managed creative accounts for Eyeblaster.

As part of the overall restructuring and after management agreement to purchase the agency, E&M announces it has made the following changes: Anthony Medico will serve as president, responsible for managing all operating units; Barry Jacobs becomes managing partner of E&M West; Lori-Ann Capitelli is senior vice president, media director, and will oversee all offline client media; Christine Babiak will be relocating to the Los Angeles office as director of client services, E&M West; Shari Slackman becomes senior media buyer, supervisor of media analytics; Joanne Morreale is senior media buyer, radio supervisor; and Michael Medico becomes agency CEO, in charge of business development.

Hawthorne Direct promotes Sherri Mineart to marketing coordinator after working for the company for four years as a marketing assistant and senior media accounting specialist. Hawthorne also announced the win of two awards from the 2008 U.S. International Film & Video Festival including the Silver Screen Award for High Plains Bison and the Creative Excellence Award for RejuvaWand Skin Care System.

GSI Commerce Inc. and Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. sign a new 15-year contract, extending their successful relationship – sales through Dick’s Web site have grown more than 10 times since it signed with GSI in 2001. Under the agreement, GSI will continue to provide Dick’s Sporting Goods with services including E-commerce technology, customer service, fulfillment, drop-ship management, interactive marketing and E-mail marketing.

Two Pennsylvania media production firms, RSVP and Haley Productions, have merged to create Allied Pixel. The merger showcases the first integrated media production company in the Philadelphia region, providing access to unique combinations of video production, Web development and multimedia production services including BluRay DVDs, interactive Web applications, HD video on the Web and mobile applications.

The Chicago Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies announces registration for the 2008 Institute for Advanced Advertising Studies (IAAS) program. Tsavo Media, a new company focused on delivering relevant experiences to the digital touchpoints in consumers’ lives, names Mike Macadaan vice president of product and design. Most recently, Macadaan was vice president of design at AOL.

The University of Advancing Technology (UAT) recently turned to full-service marketing firm Fabiano Communications and technology from XMPie to develop a student recruitment campaign spanning print, Web, E-mail and telemarketing. The campaign exceeded UAT’s enrollment goals by more than 10 percent.

The Promotion Marketing Association (PMA), a non-profit marketing organization, will host “Digital Marketing Summit: Digital Marketing Fully Integrated” at Bridgewaters, South Street Seaport in New York City, Sept. 8. The full day event will benefit professionals from all areas of integrated marketing, including brand marketers, retailers and E-tailers, promotion marketers, ad agency executives and digital marketers. Direct marketing guru Ron Jacobs is helping to pioneer a certificate program and graduate degree course at DePaul University, to debut this fall. The Jacobs and Stone Multichannel Marketing Communications Graduate Certificate program, or MC2, was named in honor of Bob Stone and Jacobs – who helped develop the school’s first marketing program in 1989 – and is geared towards professionals.

CCM Marketing Inc., a sports, health and fitness agency, announces the merger of its firm with Competitive Edge Media Management Inc., a full-service advertising agency. The combined entity will retain the Competitive Edge Media Management Inc. name and will be based in San Luis Obispo, Calif. (CCM Marketing will operate as a division).

Jacqueline Schmehl joins tomsheehan worldwide as art director, responsible for all creative and design strategies.

Vertis Communication appoints Jerry Cacciatore as senior vice president, Premedia Operations. Most recently, Cacciatore served as senior vice president of operations at Quebecor World Premedia.

Zimmerman Advertising is named the agency of record for The RoomPlace, which is one of the Midwest’s top
 destinations for affordable home furnishings. Spending is expected to be about $10 million for the integrated campaign. 

NextReflex is teaming up with Gold Mobile to launch a new mobile marketing platform  called ReflexMobile. The mobile platform incorporates the latest technology, Up-Cell, which uses the same methodologies as NextReflex’s current online ordering system: easy and flexible campaign setups, the ability to handle multiple up-sell scripts for testing and client access to real-time reporting.
