Director of Audience Development

Brian Howell is the director of audience development at U-T San Diego, where he is responsible for directing the company’s consumer marketing programs, with the goal of expanding the audiences of all the U-T’s products across both print and digital platforms. Howell has more than 10 years of experience directing all aspects of B2C marketing, including multi-channel customer acquisition, retention, customer service and loyalty programs. Prior to his current role, he held positions in advertising, direct marketing and database marketing, which formalized his belief in utilizing market research and segmentation data to direct business plans and tactics. Howell is an Ohio native and a graduate of Bowling Green State University. He’s been in San Diego for three years and lives in 4S Ranch with his wife Sonya, and their three sons: Drew (14) and twins, Jack and Ben (10).
