Scott Barbour Scott Barbour brings 20 years of sales and marketing experience helming direct response companies, most recently founding Cre8tive Partners, a full-service direct response advertising agency in Santa Monica Calif. Prior to that, Barbour spent three years at Transactional Marketing Partners (TMP), founded by the legendary Earl Greenburg. He also served a stint as president and COO of Mantra Films, after a successful 5 1/2 year run as vice president of corporate development at eUniverse/Intermix (MySpace), a NASDAQ company. From 1991 to 2000, Barbour founded and ran Real Entertainment, the nation’s largest independent full service, turnkey direct response-based entertainment company specializing in the production, distribution and marketing of reality-based entertainment programming, and REAL Marketing Services, a two-location, 500-employee call center.

Doug Garnett Doug Garnett is president of Atomic Direct, a boutique DRTV agency with a unique vision of how brand and retail products can be advanced through response-oriented TV. Atomic’s clients include Lowe’s, AAA, Rubbermaid, DisneyMobile and the Drill Doctor. He also teaches advertising in the School of Business Administration at Portland State University, can be followed on Twitter at @drtvguru, and is a member of the Response Advisory Board.

Linda Goldstein Linda Goldstein, a partner at Manatt Phelps & Phillips, is widely recognized as one of the leading advertising lawyers in the country. She has handled numerous high profile Federal Trade Commission investigations and enforcement actions involving substantiation of advertising claims, compliance with trade regulation rules, and various marketing practices. Goldstein has also represented clients across a broad spectrum of product categories in industry-wide and individual state attorney general proceedings. She is a former chairman of the board of the Electronic Retailing Association and regularly participates as a speaker at leading industry conferences and workshops.

Thomas Haire During the past 11 years, Thomas Haire has been a DR-industry opinion leader at the editorial helm of Response Magazine, the only independent source of news and information in the direct response world. A four-time Western Publications Association (WPA) Maggie-award nominee as editor-in-chief of Response and a two-time Eddie Award winner as a magazine editor and feature writer, Haire has also overseen unprecedented financial growth during his time at Response. Haire also writes for the Yahoo-owned Rivals.com website, USCFootball.com, where he’s handled game previews and other opinion pieces on USC Trojan football since 2000. Jeffrey Knowles Jeffrey Knowles is nationally recognized as a leading attorney in the direct response television industry. He heads Venable’s Advertising and Marketing Practice Group and co-chairs the firm’s Government Division. He focuses on national television advertising, direct-to-consumer marketing and E-commerce. Knowles founded and served for 13 years as general counsel to the Electronic Retailing Association (ERA). He represents clients before the Federal Trade Commission, Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Postal Service, state attorneys general, and Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Peter Koeppel Peter Koeppel is founder and president of Koeppel Direct, a leader in direct response television, online, print and radio media buying, marketing and campaign management. With a Wharton MBA and more than 25 years of marketing and advertising experience, Koeppel has helped Fortune 500 companies, small businesses and entrepreneurs develop direct marketing campaigns to increase profits. He started Koeppel Direct in 1995 and has built it into one of the leading direct response media buying firms in the U.S.

Greg Sarnow Greg Sarnow is the founder and CEO of the Direct Response Academy, specializing in project management, feasibility analysis, on-site training and courses. Considered an expert in the direct response field, he has spoken to ad agencies, marketers and media buyers on direct response marketing at numerous trade shows. He served as president of American Television Time for eight years and is responsible for buying more than $1 billion of DRTV media for hundreds of clients, including Fortune 500 companies like Avon, Rubbermaid, Chase, Toshiba and Sears.

Gene Silverman Gene Silverman has been in the direct response advertising industry since 1985 and vice president of marketing and account management at Hawthorne Direct since 1989. He has spoken at numerous conferences, written dozens of articles and managed many successful TV campaigns for Hawthorne clients, such as Time Life, Haan USA, J.G. Wentworth and many more. Silverman has comprehensive experience in all aspects of direct response customer acquisition channels.

Jennifer Tarsitano Jennifer Tarsitano is vice president of new business development for E+M Advertising. She is an expert at developing and implementing results-driven loyalty programs that use Web, online advertising, E-mail, search, social media, word-of-mouth, and call center channels. Tarsitano has more than 15 years of experience helping companies acquire and build stronger, more profitable customer relationships in the B2B and B2C arena. Prior to joining E+M Advertising, she spent 12 years with Digitas, a Publicis Groupe Company, where she cultivated her direct response and digital marketing expertise.

Dick Wechsler Dick Wechsler is president and CEO of Lockard & Wechsler, a full-service direct marketing agency, which has grown from $3 million to $650 million in annual media billings. Early in his career, Wechsler realized that good creative and the ability to quickly access and analyze data were the keys to successful direct response marketing. Most recently, he’s led an initiative to develop tools and strategies to plan, track and analyze integrated media campaigns that support direct and retail channels and push online campaigns beyond their traditional scalability limits.
