Congress Intercepts 'Data Pass' 
If you've been passing your Internet customers' accounts to other online merchants, you've just been picked off by Congress. Late last year, the "Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act," sponsored by Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W. Va., also known as the Rockefeller Act, sailed through Congress. The measure codifies, for online transactions only, existing Visa/MasterCard restrictions on transfer of account data ("data pass") between merchants. No longer will an online up-seller legally be able to use pre-acquired account data.

DRMA Chicago Reception Guests Must RSVP by March 4

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Friday, March 4, is the final day to RSVP for the Direct Response Marketing Alliance (DRMA) Chicago Reception, held Monday, March, 7, at Chicago's Vertical Sky Lounge during the International Home + Housewares Show. 

Presented by Dial 800, OrderMotion, Brainchild Marketing, the DRMA and Response Magazine, the Chicago Reception is scheduled to take place from 6-9 p.m. at the Dana Hotel and Spa’s hip 26th-floor location at 660 N. State St. in Chicago. The event is the perfect opportunity for key industry players to network the night away while getting a sneak peek at what’s in store for Response Expo 2011.

The event will bring together industry leaders in town for the International Home + Housewares Show, which runs March 6-8 at McCormick Place. SANTA ANA, Calif. – Response Magazine and the Direct Response Marketing Alliance (DRMA) are proud to announce Steven Rosenbaum and Shelly Palmer as featured speakers at Response Expo 2011.

Rosenbaum, the founder and CEO of the Web's largest video curation platform,, will speak Wednesday, May 4, at 10 a.m. Palmer, the host of NBC Universal's Live Digital with Shelly Palmer, will speak Thursday, May 5, at 9:30 a.m. Both sessions are open to All-Access Badge holders only. All-Access Badges are available to DRMA members for $495, and to non-members for $795 before March 25.
