Supreme Court Hands TCPA and Privacy Defendants a Gift 
The U.S. Supreme Court handed telemarketing and privacy defendants a nice gift in May. In Spokeo Inc. v. Robins, the court denied standing to an individual who had brought a federal class action against a consumer reporting agency that operates a “people search engine” for users, including employers wanting to evaluate job applicants. He charged that the company, Spokeo, had violated procedures in the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and, in doing so, had generated inaccurate information on him.

Minneapolis-based direct response agency Marketing Architects hires Aaron Lange as senior vice president of technology. He’ll oversee all digital marketing, systems infrastructure, big data management, and telephony services. The agency also announces six additional hires: Maria Zivkovic, campaign marketing manager; Aaron Streeter, business development executive; Will Carlstrom, account manager; Alex Koich, account manager; Omar Ismail, senior database administrator; and Tim Waaraniemi, accountant.

PulseTV earns the ranking of No. 36 on Crain’s annual fastest growing companies for the Chicago Metropolitan area.  PulseTV enjoyed a 346-percent growth rate during the past 5 years.

National Merchants Association, a bankcard leader and merchant advocacy group, appoints Butch Hildebrand to director of sales.

Simplified IT Products LLC, maker of Picture Keeper, partners with Evolve Tele-Services to support a new DRTV campaign for Picture Keeper Connect, a mobile backup tool for phones, tablets, and computers. The campaign will run nationally on multiple networks and will target smartphone users who have run out of storage space or have purchased a new phone and want to move all of their photos, videos, and contacts simply and safely.
