CBS, TWC Battle Ends – Carriage Deal Reached

Digital Media to See Double-Digit Growth in 2013

Study: TV Sites Best for Video Viewability 
NEW YORK – Roughly 90 percent of video ads in first-quarter 2013 were repurposed TV spots and generated an 85-percent completion rate on average, says a report from Tremor Video, a video advertising solutions company.

Fox reports that 85 percent of Super Bowl ad spots are sold out. Fox wouldn’t say what it's charging for the ad space, but top media buyers say some of the game's 30-second slots are going for north of $4 million, versus the $3.8 million average on CBS for the event’s 2013 broadcast.

WideOrbit Inc., a provider of ad management software for media companies, announces that Gray Television Inc., a broadcast TV company, has selected WideOrbit to replace its legacy traffic vendor for 86 of its channels that span 30 U.S. television markets.

Delivery Agent announces it has extended its relationship to run omni-channel commerce for CBS Consumer Products and Showtime through July 2015. Delivery Agent will now manage the official commerce platform for the sci-fi franchise “Star Trek.”

SiteLock, WebsiteAlive and SecureBuy announce the release of AliveSecure, a secure online communications and transaction-processing product. It’s an online software-as-a-service designed to secure credit card payments through a website or mobile chat interface.

IPG Media Lab and YuMe release a study that says unaided brand recall for tablet video viewers clocks in at 57 percent. That compares to 49 percent of smartphone viewers who could recall brand names without prompting, 47 percent of computer users, and 45 percent of TV viewers. The study also finds that 81 percent of tablet video viewers sometimes or always watch TV shows on their tablets.

The PEW Research Center says that, as of May 2013, 72 percent of online U.S. adults use social networking sites, up from 67 percent in late 2012, and 8 percent in 2005. The study finds that 18 percent of online adults are now Twitter users. This is roughly double the 8 percent of online adults who used Twitter in November 2010, the first time PEW asked about Twitter as a stand-alone platform.
