Programmatic video ad platform TubeMogul’s second-quarter 2014 financial results show $28.7 million in revenue, up 127 percent year-over-year. The company reported $22 million revenue in the 1Q 2014.

Google acquires video and special effects startup Zync Render to build on its video production and cloud-computing services. The acquisition will require moving client files and content from Amazon’s to Google’s cloud platform.

A new survey from privacy management tool MyLife says more people trust Google than the U.S. government with their personal information.

Facebook is letting marketers tailor ads based on the speed of a user’s network connection – 2G, 3G or 4G. The new feature is aimed especially at high-growth countries, like India, where people mainly access the Internet through mobile devices. Facebook also reports brands will soon be able to create ads to highlight events and drive responses in both the mobile and desktop news feed.

The Radio Advertising Bureau reports that radio’s second-quarter revenue performance in 2014 was down 3 percent from the same period last year based on diminished spot activity. Spot declined 5 percent, tempering respective gains of 13 percent and 9 percent from the off-air and digital sectors, as well as flat network spending.

Mediassociates, a media buying agency, partners with ad tech firm FuturesMedia to support programmatic TV media buying. Mediassociates says the technology lets it work directly with suppliers with real-time access to TV ad inventory, for reduced costs and improved buying processes.

Research firm IDC estimates worldwide smartphone shipments will increase 23.8 percent in 2014 to about 1.25 billion.

The Obama administration names Danny Marti as its new “piracy czar,” i.e., the country’s “intellectual property enforcement coordinator.” A managing partner of Kilpatrick Townsend’s Washington, D.C., office, Marti served as the firm’s intellectual asset acquisitions and transactions team from 2010 to 2013.
