Almost nine in 10 Web users attempt to remain anonymous online by clearing their cookies and browser cookies, encrypting E-mail or using proxy servers, according to a new report by the Pew Research Center.

Research firm IDC ups its forecast for the mobile phone market to 7.3-percent growth this year (from 5.8 percent) because of stronger-than-expected gains in emerging markets and sales of lower-priced (under $200) smartphones.

Telco and IPTV-related TV services will be one of the few growth areas remaining in the multichannel TV-video distribution industry. comScore reports that one of every 10 consumer E-commerce dollars is now spent using either a smartphone or a tablet. M-Commerce spending reached $4.7 billion in second-quarter 2013 with a growth rate of 24 percent vs. one year ago. For the first half of the year M-commerce spending accounted for $10.6 billion, representing 10 percent of total digital commerce during that time. With the expected seasonal surge in fourth-quarter spending, comScore says M-commerce could surpass $25 billion for the full year.

The Fiber to the Home Council Americas says the trend of getting video content from the Internet and bypassing cable and satellite programming is advancing more quickly than previously believed. Based on its survey of subscribers to fixed broadband services, cable and DSL, the study estimates that 40 percent are accessing at least some video programming through so-called “over-the-top” video services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and iTunes, as well as through a variety of applications for mobile devices through the Internet.

Twitter makes its lead generation card business available to advertisers who can download leads from Twitter Ads into a spreadsheet and update incoming leads into a CRM system.

Marketers say the tallest hurdle standing in the way of better video delivery is making it mobile-friendly. Overall, 77 percent of 85 respondents said seamlessly getting their video onto mobile devices was their biggest worry, according to a new study conducted by TechValidate on behalf of content delivery company Limelight Networks.
