Twitter Expands e-Commerce Efforts 
SAN FRANCISCO – Twitter is on the verge of adding more e-commerce tools. Last year it launched its “buy button,” and now the social media giant is expanding the service “to make it as easy as possible for businesses to connect directly with, and sell to, customers on Twitter,” Nathan Hubbard, vice president of commerce at Twitter, writes in a blog.

Newton Media celebrates its 20th anniversary. Founded by Steve Newton, who wanted to offer better media service for clients in both the faith-based and DRTV space, says the company has grown significantly over the years with offices in Chesapeake, Va., Dallas, and Cave Creek, Ariz. 

Autobytel Inc., the online automotive service that connects consumers with dealers, acquires AutoWeb Inc. in an all-stock and warrant transaction. Prior to the acquisition, Autobytel owned approximately 15 percent of the outstanding capital stock of AutoWeb. 

The Essex County Family Justice Center introduces a promotional video, created by Boonton, N.J.-based Concepts TV Productions, that describes how it brings together services for victims of domestic violence all in one location. The video will be unveiled at the ECFJC’s Fifth Anniversary Building Bridges of Hope Gala during Domestic Violence Awareness Month on October 27.

CBS and Amazon announce a new multi-year, multi-series agreement to make Amazon's Prime Video the exclusive subscription streaming home for three new CBS summer series through 2018. The first new CBS series will be next summer’s comic-thriller Braindead, which Prime members in the U.S. will be able to stream just four days after broadcast. CBS and Amazon had similar arrangements for Under the Dome and Extant.

Verizon and AOL secure an exclusive ad sales partnership with Publicis. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed, but the pact is reportedly worth upwards of $50 million. Per the deal, Publicis’ agencies and brand partners get exclusive ad inventory on the millennial-focused platform for three months. The agreement extends through the third quarter of next year on a non-exclusive basis.

Adzerk, which serves online ads for sites including Reddit and Imgur, says it will offer publishers an automated mechanism for honoring consumers' do-not-track requests. 

NBCUniversal reaches a deal with Google to sell ads for the first time alongside the media company’s videos on YouTube. This will mark the first time that ads will accompany clips from NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” which has become a viral sensation since Jimmy Fallon became the show’s host in early 2014. NBCU will sell the ads itself.

Most consumers don’t have a huge interest in switching pay-TV providers and over-the-top options aren’t luring them to change services, according to a survey from Digitalsmiths, a video discovery platform. The company says 7.7 percent of respondents had switched pay-TV providers in the past three months, representing only a 1.7-percent increase over last year.

Walmart plans to eliminate 450 positions at its Bentonville, Ark., headquarters in a restructuring effort. The move represents a 2.5-percent reduction in the location’s workforce.

21st Century Fox's court battle with Dish Network over the AutoHop DVR feature is back on again after a 10-month stay was automatically lifted when the two sides failed to come to terms on a new retransmission licensing deal for the Fox Broadcasting Network by an Oct. 1 deadline.

Marketing software company SteelHouse says 48 percent of shoppers say they complete the majority of their shopping on or before Cyber Monday, a 40-percent increase from 2013. Also, 25 percent of shoppers say they begin their holiday shopping before Halloween arrives.
