FTC Issues Warning Letter to AdvertisSEPTEMBER 2014 COVER IMAGEers 
WASHINGTON – The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sent warning letters to 60 national advertisers, including 20 of the 100 largest advertisers in the U.S., telling them their ads have failed to make adequate disclosures to the buying public.

Comcast Lashes Out at Critics of TWC Deal 
PHILADELPHIA – Comcast slammed critics of its proposed merger with Time Warner Cable last week, calling some of them extortionists looking to further their own businesses. Specifically, in a 300-page executive summary, Comcast lashed out at Discovery, Netflix, Cogent, Dish and Viamedia.

PricewaterhouseCoopers reports 41 percent of companies are monitoring social media for “adverse publicity” today versus 32 percent in 2012. More than half of companies still believe they aren’t doing a good enough job of keeping an eye out for adverse publicity.

African American-centric network Bounce TV says it doubled the number of upfront advertisers for the new TV season. The network says it now has a roster of 35 general market sponsors – though it didn’t disclose specific advertisers or categories.

Amazon’s new #AmazonWishList now lets customers add items to their Amazon Wish List without ever leaving Twitter. Customers who discover a Tweet from their favorite artist, expert, brand or friend with an product link, can add #AmazonWishList to the reply on Twitter and the product is added to their Amazon Wish List.

Pew Research says 64 percent of U.S. adults now use Facebook and just under half of these say they get news on the site. Most Facebook users who get news say this is an incidental activity: 78 percent say they generally see news when they are on Facebook for other reasons.
