FCC’s New Net Neutrality Approach Draws Praise, Ire 
WASHINGTON – Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler is considering separating broadband into two parts – a retail element where consumers pay service providers like Comcast or Verizon for their broadband service, and a back-end or wholesale element covering broadband providers that serve as a backbone for content providers like Netflix or Amazon.

Hulu and Viacom announce they’ve extended a deal to bring shows from Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, TVLand, Spike, BET and Logo to the online platform. Thousands of episodes will be added to Hulu’s over-the-top (OTT) library in the coming weeks.

IBM and Twitter announce a partnership that will allow companies to integrate social data into IBM’s tools, consulting services and platforms – like the cognitive computing platform Watson. The deal aims to go past the chatter to discover what consumers really want.

Lowe’s plans to use Twitter’s Vine, the six-second video clip service, to promote its sales and deals for the big shopping day after Thanksgiving. On Monday, a series of 12 Black Friday Vines began advertising special pricing on merchandise such as DeWalt Tools and Dyson vacuums.

Horizon Media appoints Jake Phillips as senior vice president, managing director. He will oversee activities for the agency’s financial services clients as well as client relationship management, strategic leadership, team performance and development.

Walmart says it’s offering price rollbacks on 20,000 products for the holiday, as well as same-day pickup and free shipping on orders $50 or higher.
