Fox’s ‘Hannity’ Loses Advertisers Over Coverage of Debunked Story 
NEW YORK – Some advertisers are balking at Fox News after one of the network’s personalities, Sean Hannity, refused to back down on a debunked conspiracy theory that Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich was murdered for leaking DNC emails to Wikileaks, even after Fox News said the report lacked journalistic integrity.

KPI Direct, an integrated direct marketing and brand management agency, rebrands Rivet Digital as KPI Convert, a full-service digital marketing agency. Jeff Mitchell, former co-founder and president of Digital Impulse, will be president of KPI Convert.

Adam Warren, co-founder and CEO of OpenJar Concepts, announces that his new children’s book, “A Bear With Pants,” has been published. It’s the story of how a young bear with one leg shorter than the other overcomes bullying. The story, written by Warren, is illustrated by Los Angeles artist Zack Arnett.

R2C Group, the data-driven creative and media agency, hires Joy McCammon as director of talent management. She will provide strategic direction across all aspects of human resources for the agency. 

Newton Media is selected as the agency of record for Wholetones: The Healing Frequency Music Project, a seven-disc-set of music created by musician, author, and speaker Michael Tyrrell. Newton Media will develop a strategic media test campaign for placement of a 30-minute DRTV program to air nationally, starting early in the third quarter.

AT&T’s live online video service, DirecTV Now, sees growth stall in recent months, Ad Age reports, raising questions about consumer demand for the growing number of new web-TV services entering the market. By the end of January, two months after its debut, the TV service had surged to about 328,000 subscribers. But it lost 3,000 customers in February, with subscriber growth flat in March.

A study Hulu commissioned with Tremor Video says 54 percent of Generation Z doesn’t mind seeing relevant advertising when reading online content.

Ad-tech company VideoAmp and media agency system Mediaocean integrate linear TV media planning for the upfront and scatter markets. The companies say this will allow “programmatic” optimization and targeting across brands using Mediaocean’s and VideoAmp’s software. VideoAmp unifies TV and digital in a single video platform – connecting TV data from 33 million U.S. set-top boxes.

Samba TV, the provider of audience-based advertising insights, partners with video ad serving platform SpotX to enhance audience targeting and segmentation for video advertisements on the Web, app, and connected-TV platforms. SpotX will serve as Samba TV’s primary connected TV ad-serving platform, offering brands the ability to buy connected TV inventory both programmatically and through traditional means.

Peloton, a four-year-old startup that sells exercise bikes tied to a live-streamed workout experience, announces it has recently closed a $325 million Series-E financing round, which brings its total valuation to $1.25 billion.

Twitter is giving users of its Apple TV app some new features, including live 360-degree video and Periscope’s Global Map. Along with Apple TV, it added apps for Amazon Fire TV and Microsoft’s Xbox One last year. For each platform, Twitter’s free app features all the live-streaming video Twitter run on its network, along with trending tweets, Vines, and Periscopes.

Dubbed as “possibly the largest malware campaign found on Google Play,” Check Point researchers have found another widespread campaign in Google’s Play app store that has forced Google to remove 41 apps. The malware-infested apps were downloaded up to 18.5 million times and forced Android users to click on ads. Check Point, a cyber security software company, dubbed the malware “Judy.” It was developed by a Korean company, Kiniwini.

BounceX, a firm that offers cloud-based behavioral marketing services, raises $31 million in funding from the Silicon Valley Bank. BounceX says the money will be used for “strategic eight-figure acquisitions” and for investments in engineering resources.
