The 13th annual Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition (IRCE) will be held at Chicago’s McCormick Place West Convention Center on June 6-9.

Grammy Award winning musician Michael S. Tyrrell’s new album “Wholetones: Life, Love & Lullabies,” debuts at No. 3 on Billboard’s New Age Chart. The music was published by Barton Publishing, a widely recognized digital publisher of natural health solutions and member of the DRMA.

Autobytel Inc., the digital automotive services provider, reports record fourth-quarter and full-year 2016 results. Fourth-quarter revenues are up 11 percent to a record $40.4 million, driven by a 219-percent increase in click revenues. And advertising revenues increased 119 percent to $8.1 million, with click revenues up 219 percent to $6.4 million.

Hulu signs A+E Networks. The deal includes: A&E, History, Lifetime, LMN, FYI, and Viceland. A+E Networks is co-owned by Disney and Hearst. Terms were not disclosed. For its upcoming new live, linear TV service, Hulu already has deals with 21st Century Fox, CBS Corp., The Walt Disney Company, and Time Warner’s Turner – with broadcast networks ABC, Fox, and CBS starting at launch.

The Association of Magazine Media reports that total magazine audience – across print, Web, mobile Web, and video – grew to 930 million in January, a 3.7-percent increase compared to the same month a year ago. The report covers 128 magazine media brands from 30 companies, representing 95 percent of magazine readership. The print and digital audience of these magazine media brands increased by 5.4 percent. The web audience – which includes desktop and laptop readers – dropped 7.6 percent, a sign of audiences continuing to shift to mobile devices.

A new survey by Vibrant Media of 43 ad agency executives shows that they want to see more augmented and virtual reality in digital ad campaigns. Almost half (49 percent) said interactive and immersive experiences can prevent ad blocking and about the same (48 percent) said they believe augmented reality has given a new role to offline advertising.

Verizon announces its own version of “data-free TV.” It says mobile subscribers who also subscribe to Fios Internet and TV will be able to stream TV shows through the Fios Mobile App without burning through their monthly data caps.

Walmart is testing a touch-screen monitor in its toy aisle at select stores to connect shoppers to available inventory at store-level, and if it’s not on-hand, the device lets them order online, according to The Street. Defined in the report as an “endless aisle-type concept,” the kiosk enables shoppers to choose from a list of toys it currently sells. 

The American Consumer Satisfaction Index reports Dillard’s was consumers’ top store among the 15 companies surveyed in the department and discount store category. It received a score of 83 out of a possible 100, up 4 percent from the previous year. J.C. Penney Co. Inc. took second place with a score of 82, and also had the largest increase from the previous year, up 11 percent.

Accenture reports that retailers looking to sell Gen-Z (the most digitally- and socially-engaged generation to date) need to focus more on engagement and physical stores. The research company says Gen Z likes enhanced digital tools, such as the ability to buy directly via visual social platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Another finding: 60 percent of Gen-Z shoppers still prefer to purchase in-store.

The National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) accuses AT&T of passing over lower-income Cleveland neighborhoods when it made recent broadband upgrades in the area. NDIA calls this “digital redlining,” a process of income-based discrimination carried out against lower-income neighborhoods. Citing newly released Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Form 477 Census block data for June 2016, NDIA claimed that AT&T has not upgraded the majority of Cleveland neighborhoods with high poverty rates.
