Minneapolis-based direct response agency Marketing Architects announces six new hires: Maria Zivkovic, campaign marketing manager; Aaron Streeter, business development executive; Will Carlstrom, account manager; Alex Koich, account manager; Omar Ismail, senior database administrator; and Tim Waaraniemi, accountant.

Simplified IT Products LLC, maker of Picture Keeper, partners with Evolve Tele-Services to support a new DRTV campaign for Picture Keeper Connect, a mobile backup tool for phones, tablets, and computers. The campaign will run nationally on multiple networks and will target smartphone users who have run out of storage space or have purchased a new phone and want to move all of their photos, videos, and contacts simply and safely.

eQuine, a treasury services provider, announces QPay, a complete payment processing platform for e-commerce and mobile checkout.

eMarketer reports Snapchat will grow its user base by double digits in 2016, to move past Twitter and Pinterest in the U.S. for the first time. The gap is predicted to widen through 2020.

Experian Marketing Services, a provider of data-driven marketing services, and Neustar, a provider of real-time information services, partner to offer data onboarding products to improve addressable coverage across direct-match partners in media channels that include mobile, display, e-mail, and TV.

Nearly 85 percent of U.S. sports fans say they plan to watch the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, though smaller screens are likely to be tapped simultaneously, eMarketer reports.

New research from Frank N. Magid Associates says 74 percent of online Americans use some form of internet-connected TV set – a 59-percent jump from last year.

Apple is reportedly in talks to buy Jay Z's music-streaming service Tidal. Swedish company Aspiro sold Tidal to the Brooklyn-born music mogul for $56 million last year.

Publicis Groupe signs a partnership with Chinese internet giant Tencent. Publicis is the second big ad holding company to strike an accord with Tencent in a week. WPP recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Tencent to create a social marketing lab.

IBT Media announces “a corporate restructuring,” laying off roughly 40 employees at International Business Times. Also cut were five editorial staffers at Medical Daily, and "at least" 11 non-editorial staffers from IBT Media as a whole, according to Politico.

Accenture Interactive and Forrester Consulting say less than half of marketing executives have taken action to improve analytic capabilities or create more valuable content because they lack employees with the necessary skills to do so.

A new study by Walker Sands says 67 percent of consumers are open to beacon/location-based technology as long as it improves their shopping experience via coupons, product content and reviews, and mapping with product locations.
