Ad Industry, W3C Still Sparring Over Do-Not-Track  
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Internet standards group World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) rejected the ad industry's proposal last week that it should be able to continue using behavioral targeting techniques to serve ads to people who have the do-not-track function on their Web browsers turned on.

Online Video Content Siphoning TV Ad Money?  
NEW YORK – A new report says online video content creators might soon enjoy a bigger slice of the TV ad money pie if consumers start spending more time watching video on mobile devices. Laura Martin and Dan Medina, analysts with investment bank Needham & Co., authored the report.

DMA, Winterberry Group Offer New Data Stewardship Rules

Study: Online Viewers Interact More With Ads 
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Consumers who watch TV ads on laptops or desktops interact more with those ads than those who watch the ads on TV, a recent study from cable rep firm Viamedia says.

The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals refuses to grant TV networks a new opportunity to argue for an injunction shutting down online video company Aereo. The decision means Aereo can continue to operate in New York while the broadcasters' lawsuit against the startup is pending.

Looking to separate itself from other TV distributors, Dish Network allows third parties to develop mobile apps for its Hopper set-top box. The first to sign on is Thuuz Sports, which allows Dish customers to control their Hopper directly from Android or iPhone smartphones.

According to a new Mintel survey, 76 percent of U.S. mobile Web users say they’ve seen an ad on their devices in the past month. For younger users (18-24), mobile ad awareness is 91 percent, and among 25-34-year-olds, it’s 83 percent.

In the still fledgling streaming media set-top-box market, Apple TV owns 56.1 percent of sales, according to a new report from Frost & Sullivan. Apple’s device has more than twice the sales of the Roku box, which has 21.5 percent of the market. TiVo trails with 6.5 percent. All others, including those running Google TV, account for the remaining 15.9 percent of the market.

Adobe Systems releases an updated version of its social media platform, allowing marketers to predict the effectiveness of posts before they are published. The platform offers a mobile user interface, streamlined reporting and new collaborative feature./span>
