Independent direct response agency R2C Group releases results from its MindReader survey, “Valentine’s Day Attitudes & Behavior.” Among the results of the survey of 500 respondents: 40 percent dined at a restaurant; 29 percent purchased candy; 21 percent bought flowers; 36 percent bought a card; 28 percent didn’t purchase any gifts; and nearly half spent more than $50.

The percentage of U.S. homes with connected devices that enable streaming of TV shows and video should reach 25 percent by year’s end, up from 16 percent of homes a year ago, according to NPD Group. The research firm predicts a quick rise in streaming usage in the next few years – homes with streaming media devices are on pace to reach 33 percent in 2016, and 40 percent by 2017. That’s just fewer than 40 million homes by 2017.
Location-based ad-targeting firm Placed announces partnerships with Digitas, Horizon, IPG Mediabrands, Crossmedia, Essence and Southwest Media Group. The agencies will use Placed’s attribution product to measure the in-store impact that digital ad campaigns have. In a statement, Digitas said the “partnership will allow it to better link consumer behaviors between the physical and digital world.”
Home shopping giant HSN is No. 1 in online customer experience, according to the E-tailing Group's 2014 Customer Experience Index. On the 2014 index, eleven merchants hit the 80+ pinnacle, with HSN earning the top score at 88, followed by Office Depot (84.75) and Dick’s Sporting Goods (83).

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is asking a federal judge to uphold the agency's authority to bring an enforcement action against AT&T for allegedly slowing down the broadband connections of some unlimited data users. The legal battle between AT&T and the FTC dates to October, when the agency alleged the practice is unfair and deceptive.
