The annual list celebrates the accomplishments of women in public relations who’ve made advances in the field.

Extreme Reach launches a marketing campaign for a new cloud-based video product that streams television ads in real time to any digital device. The ads exist on the platform, which also supports full talent and rights compliance guidelines. The campaign runs on online publications such as CNN and CNNMoney. John Roland, CEO of Extreme Reach, likened the service to Spotify or Netflix and that North American video assets can be streamed into any campaign.

Horizon Media names Diana Lawrence as vice president director of digital and publishing investment to guide Horizon’s clients through the evolving world of print media.

President Donald Trump appoints Republican Maureen Ohlhausen as acting chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Ohlhausen, who became an FTC Commissioner in 2012, has voted with the agency’s Democrats on many matters, but has also disagreed with them at times. Four years ago, Ohlhausen suggested that some of the FTC’s privacy stances could disadvantage small companies. She questioned a 2012 report calling on the ad industry to develop a universal do-not-track tool, which would have allowed consumers to easily opt out of all online behavioral advertising.

Washington, D.C.-based Taoti Creative, a digital strategy and website design agency, acquires web and app development shop Socha Dev Inc. The purchase will greatly expand Taoti Creative’s in-house development capabilities and better serve the needs of its clients in the Washington metro region and beyond.

Nielsen’s Total Content Ratings – something TV networks hope will give an accurate picture of all linear and digital TV program viewing – gets a “limited” commercial release on March 1.

The penetration of internet-connected TVs among U.S. broadband households increases about 50 percent since 2013, based on a new study by The Diffusion Group. Almost three-fourths (74 percent) of households now have an internet-connected TV, according to the survey of 2,000 U.S. adult broadband users.

This year, 25 million devices that feature “voice assistants” will be shipped, bringing the total number of voice-first devices to 33 million in circulation, based on a new study by VoiceLabs. Last year, 7 million voice-first devices, most notably Amazon Echo and Google Home, hit the market. One of the major predictions in the study is that one or more companies will enable direct person-to-person communication.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) says 45 percent of marketers said they had difficulty proving a return on investment for their data-driven campaigns. That percentage rose from a mere 26 percent in 2016. Lack of internal experience for functions and operations is at 45 percent in 2017 (vs. 35 percent in 2016). Insufficient supporting technology was cited at 39 percent vs. 45 percent a year ago.
