a2b Fulfillment adds a 170,000 square-foot warehouse in Trenton, S.C., that gives the company a total of 560,000 square feet, including its headquarters in Greensboro, Ga., and its facility in Eatonton, Ga.  

ABC Television Network signs up for Nielsen’s National Out-of-Home Reporting Service. The move provides ABC with out-of-home viewing data, including ratings for all content – programs and commercials – aired on the network for live-plus-seven days of time-shifted viewing. Earlier this year, Disney-ABC Television’s ESPN and ESPN2 became the first two networks across broadcast and cable to sign up for this opt-in syndicated service.

Inc. Magazine ranks Strata Co., a leading Pennsylvania-based marketing technology firm, No. 2709 on its 36th annual Inc. 5000 list of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.

Amazon introduces “Instant Pickup,” a free service for Prime and Prime Student members that offers a curated selection of daily essentials available for pickup in two minutes or less. The service launched at five of Amazon’s fully staffed pickup locations in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Berkeley, Calif., Columbus, Ohio, and College Park, Md., and will be rolled out to more locations in the coming months. Amazon currently operates a total of 22 staffed pickup locations on or near college campuses across the country.

App Annie predicts in-app ad spending will hit $201 billion worldwide by 2021. In 2016, it was $72 billion. Mobile accounts for 51 percent of digital ad spending and brands are now embracing mobile since users in top markets are spending more than four hours per day on their smartphones.

Walmart expands its “Scan & Go” mobile app that lets shoppers skip checkout lines. It’s being tested in 12 stores in the South and is rolling out in 10 more stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Nashville markets. The stores will offer the solution by the end of this month.

A lawsuit claims that Poland Spring Water is deceiving consumers with evergreen labels that say its bottle contains “100-percent natural spring water” that hails from Maine. The class-action lawsuit filed in federal court in Connecticut claims that parent company Nestle Waters North America is bottling common groundwater that doesn’t meet the federal definition of spring water.

U.S. consumer sentiment rises to its highest level since January in early August, reflecting optimism in the overall economy and in personal financial prospects. The University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index rose to 97.6 in the first half of August from 93.4 in July, which was an eight-month low. Economists estimated the index would hit 94 in August.

A new Engagement Labs report finds most consumers continue to look to their peers for face-to-face advice and recommendations about their favorite brands. For top performing teen retailer brands in the U.S., consumers are talking more about teen retailers in face-to-face conversations than on social media online.

Digital couponing firm RetailMeNot reports that 90 percent of retailers are investing more in mobile or social media advertising this year even as they harbor reservations about tracking ROI. One-fourth of retailers are unable to tie their mobile marketing to in-store sales. 

TVision Insights, which has technology that measures eye movements of multiple people in a room, says CBS had the highest index overall for “attention” in three of five dayparts in second-quarter 2017.
