NBC Universal Takes Gold at Olympics: Ad Sales Reach $1B 
LONDON – Athletes aren’t the only winners at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. NBC Universal reports it has topped the $1 billion mark in ad sales. That’s $150 million more than what it took home at the 2008 Beijing games.

‘Do Not Track’ Still Unsettled  
WASHINGTON – A lack of agreement on the “Do Not Track” option that can be put on websites to give consumers more control of their personal information online could lead to legislators stepping in with a crackdown, Reuters reports.

NAD: Testimonials on Pinterest Need Disclaimers 
WASHINGTON – Take note: if you post photos to Pinterest, the content sharing service on the Web, you have to make the same disclosures you do in other, more traditional forms of advertising. That’s a new rule from the Better Business Bureau’s National Advertising Division (NAD).

Social Media Gets a $9 Billion Injection of Ad Revenue 
STAMFORD, Conn. – Social media is raking in the advertising dough. Gartner, the IT research company, reports that advertising will add nearly $9 billion to social media global revenue of nearly $17 billion this year. That’s up from $11.8 billion in 2011 – a 43-percent jump.

Former Beachbody media executive Rick Shiu announces the launch of InQuest Communications, a direct response marketing, media and campaign management company.

Genius Brands International Inc., developer of the award winning Baby Genius line of music and education-based products, announces it has sold approximately 500,000 Baby Genius DVDs and CDs and more than 50,000 Little Genius CDs through its campaigns on Groupon.

Thane Direct announces the launch of an office in Paris, France, which will be headed by teleshopping executive Marie Laure Barrau.

Curtis Kleinman, vice president of business development for Swipe Payment Solutions, announces the release of “Show Me The Money #1,” an E-book co-published with Irv Brechner of Acquirgy. The book shares payment processing strategies for DRTV marketers.

As Seen on TV Inc. chooses BrightShop Digital to handle its social media marketing.

Me-TV adds three new affiliates in a deal with Newport Television – KTVX in Salt Lake City, KOKI in Tulsa, Okla., and WSYR in Syracuse, N.Y.

Comwave, a Canadian VoIP service provider, has launched a new DRTV commercial that promotes the low-cost home phone service. Northern Lights Direct produced the commercial, and will also handle the national TV media buy.
