ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. – Viewers of LG Electronics smart TVs can now buy products with PayPal using their remotes. PayPal says retailers can use the technology for interactive TV ads that let viewers buy in real time.

Saturday Mail Delivery Safe for Now  
WASHINGTON – Consumers will continue to get mail on Saturdays – at least for now. In February, the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced it would cease Saturday delivery beginning in August. But the Government Accountability Office (GAO) responded by saying the USPS was bound by law to keep delivering on Saturdays.

OTT Video Market Will Hit $20B by 2015

Saddle Creek Logistics Services names Steven J. Edelstein as director of business development and order fulfillment. He’s charged with expanding the company’s growing fulfillment business via new customer relationships and promoting organic growth with existing accounts. He will be based in New Haven, Conn.

Valassis, an advertising firm in Livonia, Mich., unveils a service called Geo-Commerce Retail Zone, which uses more than 100,000 local targeting zones to reach prospective consumers on their way to retail. The service overlays the trading areas of local stores with transactional data, behavioral data, and data from larger retail trade areas to pinpoint areas where relevant advertising can be delivered to high-potential consumers via mobile devices and other advertising channels.

A new study from 15miles/Neustar Localeze finds that consumers’ No. 1 activity on mobile devices is search. The total number of U.S. searchers on mobile phones grew steadily last year, from 90.1 million mobile phone visitors to search/navigation sites or apps in March to 113.1 million in December, a 26-percent increase.

A full 95 percent of consumers report sharing bad customer-service experiences with others, according to new findings from Dimensional Research and commissioned by cloud-based customer service software platform Zendesk. An equally impressive 87 percent of respondents said they shared good interactions with others.

Pandora reaches the 200 million-user mark. Launched in summer 2005, the online radio service reached 100 million registered users in July 2011, adding the next 100 million in less than two years.

Amazon’s Price Check app (that lets consumers compare prices of like items) has been deemed best in class by Consumer Reports. Not only does the app allow users to look up an item via barcode, voice search or a camera image, but it also invites users to share the in-store price with others.

Mobile becomes Google’s latest battle with FairSearch, which represents Microsoft, Oracle, Nokia and several other companies. The group said Google is using its Android operating system to “monopolize the mobile marketplace and control consumer data,” reports CNN. The group accuses Google of requiring Android smartphone makers who want to offer apps such as Google Maps or YouTube to pre-load Google mobile services and to give them a prominent default place on their devices.

Television station-centric LIN Media makes its second digital marketing acquisition in a week. The Providence, R.I.-based TV group bought a majority stake in Dedicated Media, a digital advertising buying and optimization firm, a company that looks to maximize efforts of advertising clients campaigns.
