Blue Vase Marketing and Great Falls Marketing, both DR sales and customer retention services in New England, announce that Great Falls will absorb Blue Vase’s call center capabilities. Consistent client growth has provided Great Falls the opportunity to expand and open multiple call centers throughout Maine in recent years.

The United States ranks 28th in the world in mobile web speeds, according to Akamai’s latest state of the internet report. Akamai surveyed 62 countries and considered usage from smartphones, tablets, computers, and other devices that connect to the web through mobile network providers.

A new Ipsos survey says 25 percent of Americans (80 million) stopped using a brand’s goods or services in the previous three months because of protests, boycotts, or the brand’s perceived political leanings.

Yahoo Inc. shareholders approve the company’s pending sale of its core internet business to Verizon Communications Inc. for $4.48 billion. The company also said it extended a tender offer to buy back up to $3 billion shares to June 16.

Recode reports sources that say AOL and Yahoo expect layoffs of up to 1,000 jobs (less than 20 percent of the combined company).

Dotmailer, the provider of an email marketing platform, joins the Shopify Plus Technology Partner program. Shopify Plus merchants can use Dotmailer’s “commerce flow” to synchronize customer contact data and purchase history to send relevant marketing emails, the firms claimed. And merchants can use data from the Shopify Plus platform to send personalized messages.

Mobile data exchange Adsquare launches Nielsen’s Digital Ad Ratings Optimized Segments, an aggregation of first- and third-party data from multiple providers that are available through Adsquare’s Audience Management Platform and part of its portfolio of real-time location, geo-behavioral, app usage, psychographic, and purchase data that enables targeting.

Video technology provider Kaltura and cloud platform Akamai Technologies Inc. extend their partnership to facilitate predictive caching of content on devices and offer consumers more efficient downloads, enabling content to load in the background while users are on a strong Wi-Fi connection.

New research suggests Snapchat’s growth is already sagging. Annually, the rate at which people are downloading the app has dropped by 22 percent during the first two months of the second quarter, according to analytics firm Sensor Tower.

For its fiscal year 2018, Chinese tech giant Alibaba expects revenue growth to approach 50 percent. “That figure compares with 56-percent revenue growth posted for the 2017 fiscal year ended March 31,” Reuters reports.

Interpublic’s MAGNA, the IPG Media Lab and Twitter release a study on how the location of video ads on Twitter impacts effectiveness. One finding: GIFs and six-second ads at the top of a feed are an effective way to communicate, since they reinforce how users interact in a social environment, while longer ad formats at the top of a feed can further drive awareness, with their stronger emphasis on the brand.
