Editor’s Note: Who’s In? At Response Expo 2013, Anyone and Everyone

When we began envisioning Response Expo in our Southern California offices about seven years ago, we wanted an event that spoke the language of those who had worked in direct response marketing for decades and one that also spoke the language of those just starting to scratch at the surface of DR. With the help of many of you reading these words today, when we reconvene on April 2-4 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, I believe we’ve been able to reach that goal time and again.

It’s because of you that the event has tripled in attendance since 2007. In opening a space that is truly non-political and non-partisan and focused on only one thing — driving new business for every one of our attendees — we wanted to create a new kind of event for this industry. Your feedback tells us we’ve succeeded and drives us to work harder every year to build on it even more.

As the content director of the Expo, I work with a group of industry advisors to provide you with the best and most informative news, information, analysis and research possible. With the hard work of our internal team and those industry leaders we count on, our educational sessions again bridge the gap from legacy As Seen On TV players to major corporate advertisers who are driving the confluence of direct, digital and data-driven marketing that has become the focus of this magazine and event.

On top of those 10 educational sessions, we’re providing attendees the best networking (five cocktail parties plus our annual golf tournament and a new wine tour), a powerful keynote from coaching legend Bob Knight, and a bustling Expo Hall floor with more than 100 exhibiting and sponsoring companies ready to do business.

According to many of you, the ingenuity of the Response team in building the kind of event that creates great business opportunities — but also offers real opportunities to let your hair down — has become one of our most important services. We appreciate the fact that many of you look to us to help drive the industry in the right direction — whether in these pages, on site in San Diego or at one of our many other networking events.

We take great joy in providing those services and — once again — I’m proud to tell you that you can count on the folks behind Response Magazine and Response Expo to stay true to our work ethic and consistency, while always striving to innovate new ways for our customers to learn, meet and grow.

If you’re not joining us this year in San Diego, know that our door always remains open to new attendees and new ideas! But if you’re among those joining us — welcome!
