Editor’s Note: Next Month’s Response Expo Will Be Your Best Biz Travel Investment of 20131 Mar, 2013 By: Thomas Haire Response
Now that we’ve hit March, like many of you road warriors out there, I have finally started stretching my 2013 business travel legs in earnest. I also know — from feedback I’ve gotten in my 12 years on the job here at Response — that means many of you are likely sitting on an airplane or a train reading this on your way to or from the latest event.
As a matter of fact, this issue itself has a travel schedule: it will be distributed during this month’s International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago. Hence, you can find our annual feature on the direct response housewares market on page 28.
However, the biggest event on our calendar here is — of course — Response Expo in San Diego, which is set to begin in just weeks, on Tuesday, April 2. The event, which wraps on Thursday, April 4, is slated a month earlier than it has been in past years, but promises to be no less powerful.
As always, we’re providing attendees the best networking (five cocktail parties plus our annual golf tournament and a new wine tour), education (10 stellar educational sessions plus a powerful keynote from coaching legend Bob Knight) and Expo Hall floor (more than 100 exhibiting and sponsoring companies ready to do business) in the direct, digital and data-driven marketing spaces.
Our attendee base, which pushed over 3,100 a year ago, has come to love the open, non-political and business-focused vibe of the event — and early attendance figures for the 2013 event show us that if you’ve been to Response Expo at least once, you’re coming back again! However, with new networking events and more diverse educational opportunities — including panels featuring the leading cable networks, top-level regulators and DR legends, among others boasting major branders sharing their DR marketing experiences — we’re always striving to drive those first-time attendees that open up new business opportunities for everyone.
From an organizational standpoint, having one less month to prep for the event this year has been stressful. But rather than cutting corners where attendees might not notice, we’ve redoubled our efforts to pack your three days on the edge of the glorious San Diego Harbor with even more business and more fun.
I look forward to seeing you at the event. If I’m hard to catch for most of the Expo, I can tell you one place where you’ll be certain to run me down: in front of the stage at the Closing Night Party on April 4 at the Wave House, blowing off steam and fully enjoying a special performance by hip-hop legend Tone Loc. To join me there, I urge you to visit www.responseexpo.com to register today!
